India in FULL GEAR and taking action

- Jai Ram Ramesh – Indian Environmental Minister
Jai Ram Ramesh , the environmental minister is planning and structuring a new model for the working of the ministry and addressing environmental issues in the country. The revamped ministry will work on three tiers:
- National Environment Protection Agency
This is remodelled on the lines of the US protection agency. This is mainly looking into the clearances and grant functions by the ministry.
2. Green Tribunal network
This will look into all the legislative work and all cases pertaining to violations in the environmental laws. This will reduce the workload on the overworked judicial system in India and helps to address local issues better.
3. Ministry and International Negotiations
The ministry will preside over the functions of the above two structure heads and will take strong and work on building pressure and pushing for equity in the international negotiations.
Reflecting on the new model of working , one must compliment the ministry , but whats more important is to understand why we the common people in India don’t see any coorelation between these actions and other actions the government takes . See for instance the Budget which gave tax holiday to oil producing companies . We hope to see more tax incentives for renewable energy companies and environmental management companies and a greater budgetary funds allocated towards the environmental ministry!

What about invalid and failed EIA’s? Any plans to revamp that?
peace!
when are they going to switch on to the TOP GEAR in taking action?
when will the minister actually revamp the structure?????
I just want to share with you my views through my small contribution in form of 2 poetries.
Save our Environment
We are all aware,
In this world we live in,
The temperature’s fast rising,
Due to global warming.
The fresh air we breathe in,
Has turned to slow poison,
We just can’t seem to stop,
The high rise of pollution.
We are ruthlessly cutting,
The trees that should grow,
We are causing disaster,
No thought for tomorrow.
The beautiful hills and caves,
Destroyed by rampant mining,
No thought for poor villagers,
Who depend and live on farming.
This greed for money,
And no care for the future,
Has made us all thoughtless,
By destroying the beauty of nature
There’ll come a day,
When our children will cry,
There’s no drinking water!
Its all high and dry
So please let’s start thinking,
For the future of our generation,
The legacy we leave them,
Should show signs of our affection….by

GLOBAL WARMING…IF WE DON’T CARE
Global Warming is in the news,
Anywhere and everywhere,
Leaders discuss it threadbare,
Individually, we don’t care.
Weathers are changing,
Floods everywhere,
Ice is melting,
Yet we don’t care.
Temperatures are rising,
Deaths everywhere,
We destroy our forests,
And still we don’t care.
No rainfall, no water,
It’s dry everywhere,
Cultivation is scarce,
And why should we care?
Greenhouse gasses are intensifying
With industries everywhere,
No proper guidelines,
But no one cares.
Quarrying all over,
And dust everywhere,
We feel it’s not harmful,
And so we don’t care.
The earth is on its last legs,
Dilapidated everywhere,
We’re ruining our environment,
IF WE DON’T CARE……….Agnes Kharshiing
