You may assume that it's the US is the largest roadblock to real binding Co2 targets, funding for developing countries, and a framework for carbon pricing but there is much more than that. developing nations like china and india don't want to be binded to any kind of target which in my eyes makes no sense considering that they are two of the largest emitters of Co2. This is a huge ggeo-political showdown and as such everyone will have to make concessions. It's great that you think it US imperialism trying to squirm out of this but not everything can be defined from the Marxist play book.

It is imperative in US politics that the cutting edge of climate activists in this country recognize the urgency of Jim Hansen (leading US climatologist) cominig out since early 2008 not merely for lower emissions of Greenhouse Gases (GHGs)but for lower ATMOSPHERIC LEVELS than at present. That means we must reach NET NEGATIVE GLOBAL GHG emissions and well before 2050, by which time coalitions like PowerShift, SEAC, and the 1SkyCoalition are merely calling for an 83% reducgtion in GHG emissions.

I was in Pittsburgh this week distributing a leaflet urging this course on the most miliant activists concerned w/climte -- the sorts who were out in the streets facing a veritable ARMY of police, who looked like an army invading a foreign country. It was a ludicrous sight, and horrendous
