Copenhagen has failed. The UN has failed to address the most important crisis in human history. This is now the time for sanctions, boycotts and embargoes. A new alliance is needed. An alliance of hope and peace and justice must be built to oppose the axis of pollution, extinction and self destruction.

While heads of states of carbon polluting nations return from Copenhagen to their respective constituencies, looking for kudos for protecting their narrow national interests, the planet will have the last laugh. We are on a collision course with Earth's climate and are staring at a planet that will be 5 degrees hotter. The debates will soon shift from whether climate change is man-made, or whether and when the Greenland ice shelf will slip into the ocean, to what velocity cyclones can reach, and how many refugees will move to India from Bangladesh. Ironically, as our ecological circumstances worsen, the coffers of the oil, coal and gas corporations will grow, because counties like mine (India) have essentially won the right to mine more coal and increase the capacity of coal-fired thermal plants by 300% in the years ahead. In the process they have gifted the US and Annex I nations the "non-legally binding" escape clause they hungered for. The Titanic has hit the climate iceberg and we are burning lifeboat on deck in exercise of our right to stay warm.
