Eight people were killed last night in floods in and around Durban, where the UN climate talks kicked off this morning. While that news set a dark frame around the conference, inside the big issues arising seem to be the future (or lack thereof) of the Kyoto Protocol, the potential for a new global agreement to replace or complement Kyoto, and money money money — who’s going to pay for all this and how the money’s going to be distributed.
