I’m a 24 year-old climate activist from São Paulo, Brazil. I’ve always been interested in and passionate about international politics and environmental issues, so it’s no mere coincidence that I have a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations and a Master’s degree in Environmental Studies.

Since 2007, I have been following the climate change international negotiations and Brazilian government actions (and inactions) on the issue as a member of Vitae Civilis – Institute for the Development, Environment and Peace, a Brazilian NGO. I went to CoP-13 (Bali) and CoP-14 (Poznan) aiming to share information with the interested Brazilian audience by writing bulletins.

Fortunately, this August I got involved in the “Adopt a negotiator project” as the Brazilian negotiator tracker. I do believe that every single citizen in this planet has the right to know what the world’s political leaders (that are people just like the rest of us) are negotiating in our name and how they are doing it. By sharing this kind of information, we can increase our pressure towards a fair, ambitious and binding agreement in Copenhagen.

I’m learning a lot and I feel like being a little part in the fight against global warming, which I am sure will be successful if everyone and every country take its responsibility and accept there’s no other choice than acting.

Tenho 24 anos, moro em São Paulo, e trabalho com mudanças climáticas desde 2007. Sempre fui apaixonada por política internacional e desenvolvimento sustentável. Não por acaso, me formei em Relações Internacionais e fiz especialização em Meio Ambiente.

Desde 2007, tenho acompanhado as negociações internacionais sobre mudanças climáticas e as ações (e inações) do governo brasileiro sobre o tema como membro do Vitae Civilis – Instituto para o Desenvolvimento, Meio Ambiente e Paz. Estive presente na CoP-13 (Bali) e CoP-14 (Poznan) com o objetivo de escrever boletins para compartilhar informações com o público brasileiro interessado.

Felizmente, em agosto, tornei-me a “negotiator tracker” brasileira do projeto “Adote um negociador” porque eu acredito que cada cidadão deste planeta tem o direito de saber o que os líderes mundiais (que são pessoas como nós) estão negociando em nosso nome e como eles estão fazendo isso. Ao compartilhar esse tipo de informação, podemos aumentar a pressão por um acordo justo, ambicioso e vinculante em Copenhague.

Estou aprendendo muito e me sinto uma pequena parte da luta contra o aquecimento global que, certamente, será bem sucedida se todas as pessoas e todos os países assumirem suas responsabilidade e aceitarem que não há outra escolha a não ser agir.
