Whether you are seeking to amplify your own voice or mobilize crowds for a new campaign, social media has become a powerful and inescapable tool. But there is a huge step between being an active “twittery” and liking many pages to generating positive changes. We reached out to social media strategists and experienced campaigners to learn their insights on digital campaigning.

On 26 September we were joined by seasoned climate activist and social media expert Joe Solomon for an expert skills training. Joe, being a proud geek and the social media trainer for the Energy Action Coalition, poseed the question: “What if the Rebel Alliance from the Star Wars universe had a social media coordinator - someone who was in charge of Facebook-ing, Tweeting, etc? What could people trying to use social media for social change learn from them?”

‘Twitter chat’ with Kelly Rigg & Nic Seton
After learning how to make the best use of social media, we want you to have a chance to engage with expert campaigners on when to make use of digital tools (and when not).
Nic Seton is a digital strategist and campaigner with Greenpeace in the UK, and he’s played a key role in the social media efforts supporting some of that organization’s boldest actions this year. Kelly Rigg cut her teeth as a Greenpeace activist fresh out of college, and over decades of campaigning she’s remained a leader pushing the limits of campaign strategies and tools. She now serves as Executive Director for the Global Call for Climate Action.
