The upcoming UN climate conference will provide a unique opportunity this year to put the spotlight on governments’ response to climate change, making climate action newsworthy for a couple of weeks with the added political drama associated with UN conferences. However, the highly technical nature of the conference will make it more challenging to communicate effectively around the event. Also the presence of conflicting events in Warsaw (the city will not only be hosting both the UN process expected to seek solutions but also parallel events by major polluters) will increase the risk of confusing observers and blurring key messages.
Our fourth #climatetracker twebinar will be guiding you through key messages and narratives to turn these challenges into opportunities and make use of the conference to highlight the need for urgent climate action and expose those standing on the way to adequate policies.
Few people understand this challenge better than Ria Voorhaar, Communications Coordinator at Climate Action Network (CAN-International). Ria has spent the past months preparing key messages for the conference and identifying most effective ways for the partners of her organization to use the opportunity provided by the COP to spur governments and other actors into action and to held laggards accountable.
If you have any questions or comments, please use the comment section at the bottom of this page, we will make sure to convey your thoughts to Ria, our expert for this session, and get an answer for you.
