We have new Objectives

After a day of intense debate that expanded our already Lima calls to action, we received a late night arrival. NEW TEXT!

That’s right, the new ‘General’ or ‘Objective’ section is out after an afternoon of additions, and as usual the Adopt a Negotiator team couldn’t possibly sleep with this new baby hot on our hands. I mean, how could we?

On first viewing, it looks like the secretariat has prepared a fair text that represents the views of almost everyone who made their voice heard this afternoon. However, if you plan to dive in head first, you may bump your head on some overhanging negotiating rocks.

That’s why we have prepared this handy helper guide, highlighting the biggest changes, and possible day 3 dynamics as negotiators get this text back in their hands.

At the moment, everything’s sitting on the knife’s edge of a razor sharp bracket. And no-one’s going home without some blood on their hands. But I personally hope negotiators take pride in what currently sits in paragraph 12 bis.

Not only does it ensure Human rights within all climate-related activities, but the added rights of Indigenous peoples and a just transition of the workforce & decent work opportunities.

All worthy of protection when the flip knives arrive on day 3.
