The Guardian‘s Suzanne Goldenberg writes, “Dozens of major cities and provinces across the US and China are pledging ambitious climate actions, going beyond what their countries have committed at the national level. The actions were unveiled at a summit in Los Angeles and has been dubbed the US-China Climate Leaders Declaration. Pledges include promises from Chinese cities to peak greenhouse gases as early as 2020 — a decade before China’s national peak year — and a promise from Seattle to go carbon neutral by 2050.”

Carbon Pulse has a comprehensive list of commitments. Scientific American points out that it will eliminate around the same amount of carbon dioxide as Japan emits each year. The Hill, The New York Times, RTCC and Reuters also carry the story.
