Wake Up! It's a beautiful day and there are exciting times ahead!

As we hurtle towards Copenhagen our ministers and negotiators are getting busier and busier.

Next week is a major week for all of us as they all gather in New York for a UN summit on climate change, then in Pittsburgh for a G20 meeting.

But what does that mean exactly….

Well hopefully LOTS of talking about climate change!

With stories this week coming out about splits between the EU and USA on the outcomes of Copenhagen, and rumblings from China about 2 degrees being unrealistic, we need to make sure at these meetings we see some serious talking and some serious action. We need our leaders, our ministers and our negotiators to stop talking about broad rhetoric and start talking about the realities of action that needs to be taken.

They need to wake up to the realities of climate change and start getting serious about what we have to do to avert a climate crisis.

So lets give them a wake up call!

On 21st September that just what thousands of people around the world will be doing- coming together to sound a global wake up call.

There are 202 events in the UK alone going on and thousands more around the world check them out and get down to one if you can.

But it’s not just our leaders who need to wake up.

We all do,

Wake up!

Today is the first day of the rest of your life!

It’s time for us all to take action, to live our lives in the way we believe is right, to think about the world we want to live in and to take the steps to make it happen. The UN summit, the G20 meetings, Copenhagen, though these are important meetings they won’t solve the crisis alone. It’s going to take us all changing the way we live, taking responisibility for our planet, for our future, and building an exciting world together.

I don’t think we should be ringing alarms to signal an emergency. We should be ringing them to signal that we have woken up today with a vision of the world we want to live in and the drive to make it happen!

When the alarms ring on Sep 21st wake up! Take a moment to think about the rest of your life and what you need to do to achieve your vision of a better world.

Then start to make it happen!
