Cancun Update: Pyramid of Hope
Yesterday TckTckTck, a movement of everyday people all over the world who are getting to work on solving climate change, built a pyramid of hope in front of the official conference venue here in Cancun. The culturally-appropriate Mayan pyramid (see our climate Great Wall in China) was constructed of the building blocks that we think are necessary to reach a successful agreement in Cancun, including climate finance for the poorest and most vulnerable countries, a shared vision that 1.5 degrees Celsius should be the limit for global warming and a deal to prevent deforestation in developing countries. Our good friend Christiana Figueres, head of the UNFCCC, was on hand to add the final cornerstone of the pyramid, representing the spirit of solidarity that should hold sway at these discussions. We’re with Secretary Figueres in hoping for a successful outcome here in Cancun!
