VIDEO INTERVIEW: what does the labor movement expect from the UNFCCC?
While all Germany celebrates International Day of Labour, life (or rather negotiations) goes on as usual at the Bonn Climate Talks, with all delegates from governments and civil society enjoying no rest on the third day of this negotiating session.
I seized the opportunity to discuss with two representatives from the labor movement about how these discussions - and more broadly the need to tackle climate change - relate to the interests and needs of workers.
Anabella Rosemberg works for the International Trade Union Confederation as environment & occupational health officer. The ITUC is the main international trade union organization, representing the interests of working people worldwide.
I also met for you Laura Martin, Murillo the director of Sustain Labour. Sustainable Labour is an international labour foundation that aims at promoting the participation of workers in efforts to achieve sustainable development. She shares with us the expectations of the labour movement from the transition to low-carbon economies and the importance to ensure that the labour movement is part of climate governance at all relevant level, engaging with other actors.
Happy Labour Day!
