Lead Tracker - Ferran Esteve
Ferran was born and grew up in Barcelona, though he speaks with his parents in “lleidetà” (a catalan accent from Lleida, in the inner Catalonia). He studied in Barcelona, surrounded by cars in the big city but spent summers sunbathing on the Costa Brava. Here he learned how poorly humans can treat a gorgeous landscape and it inspired him to want to make a difference.
Giving up on his childhood dream of being a comic artist to devote to his other great passion: trying to transform society. He studied Political Science at university, alternating his studies with active membership in academic associations and in the Catalan Green party. Later, he turned to journalism learning as he worked.
An Internet lover, Ferran has been a prolific blogger since 2004 and, as the years passed got hooked in to the vast array of social media out there, twitter, Flickr, youtube … you name it, he´s on it!
He is currently working as web editor on the Intermón Oxfam website, as well as on the online community www.dalelavueltaalmundo.org where he tries to communicate his belief in change to young people to encourage them to participate actively in the transformation of the world.
Ferran joined Adopt-a-Negotiator because he believes in everyone’s right to be informed and to hold their politicians responsible for their decisions.
The Spanish Delegation
Ferran con Alicia Montalvo, su nueva hija adoptiva
Ferran is tracking Alicia Montalvo and the Spanish Delegation.
Alicia is director of the Spanish Climate Change Office. Born on 24 November 1961 in Madrid, married with two children. She has a BA in Economics from the University of Valencia, Master in Public Administration from Harvard University and belongs to the Technical Corps of the State Trade and Economic .
Do not, however, be frightened by all of her degrees, Alicia is a down to earth and accessible person - open to dialogue. While she is guilty of negotiator-speak, often using language much too formal, Alicia strives to clearly communicate to Spain’s citizens what work the Spanish delegation is doing on their behalf. Unfortunately, most of what she says is ambiguous, because the official Spanish position is not clear enough.
Follow Ferran as he tracks the Spanish negotiators, read his blogs, make comments and partipate in the global movement.
