Live from Tianjin - Introducing Your Negotiator Trackers in China
Posted on 01. Oct, 2010 by Joshua Wiese in Adopt a Negotiator
Here we go again –
Last year, China unseated the United States as the world’s biggest greenhouse gas polluter. This year, China is stepping up its role in international efforts to address climate change – hosting it’s first UNFCCC talks, starting October 4th. TckTckTck’s Adopt a Negotiator project will be there to track negotiators along the way.
We’ve got a great team on the ground, giving you perspectives from 11 countries; and 2 more country perspectives from afar. Here’s a quick introduction to who you’ll see on the site:
The Veterans:
Anna Collins will be in Tianjin representing the UK. Catch her blogs
here. And follow her on twitter at @artnotpolicy as do our best to send bite sized bits of data over China’s Great (fire)Wall.
Andrea Cinquina just made his way from Pescara, Italy. He’ll be blogging here, and tweeting at @greensharing.
After a few meeting hiatus, we’re glad to have our Catalonia star, Ferran Esteve, tracking Spain. You can follow Ferran’s blogs here, and follow his tweets at @perroprofeta.
Juliana Russar joins us from Sao Paulo, Brazil. She’s blogging here, and tweeting at @jrussar.
Leela Raina is giving us her uniquely Indian and uniquely Leela perspective. Follow her blogs here, and her tweets at @leelaraina.
Phil Ireland is taking a break from his PhD work to represent Australia. He’s blogging here and tweeting @Phil_Ireland.
Ole Seidenberg joins us from Berlin, Germany. Read his blogs here, and his tweets at @socialbloggerde.
In addition to old negotiator talent, we’re welcoming a few new faces to the team.
Alex Stark joins us from the US capital, Washington DC. You’ll soon see her blogs here, and you can follow her on twitter here @AlexMStark.
Amily Yang is a new Tracker team addition from Beijing, and our first China tracker from the mainland. She’ll be blogging here.
China has so many people (and Beijing is so close to Tianjin) that we’re doubling down on China trackers for this session. So you’ll soon see posts from the talented Cheng Guen (picture coming soon) on the China blog as well.
Our beloved Frenchman, Florent, left us to work on climate issues in Tuvalu. Thomas Matagne is taking up the French tracker seat. Catch his blogs here and follow Thomas on Twitter at @thomasmatagne.
We’ll have a Russian Negotiator Tracker for the first time. Stacey Wilenkin joins us from Moscow. You’ll be able to follow her blogs here and her tweets at @estrelitadelmar.
From a distance, we’re also tracking…
…Canada. Joanna Dafoe is returning to the team to track Canada remotely. Catch her blogs here, and watch for her tweets at @jodafoe.
We’re also introducing our first African to the team. Laura Tyrer (picture coming soon) who joins us from Johannesburg, South Africa – and will stay in Johannesburg, South Africa for the duration of the Tianjin session (Visa drama). We’ll have Laura’s blog live soon.
We’re excited to work closely with our friends at OneClimate – who are bringing live-streaming video throughout the talks. We’ll also work closely with our many TckTckTck partners in Tianjin and around the world. Stay tuned.
